What exactly does SolidMagnetics generate?

Can I match this design to off-the-shelf components?
Yes. SolidMagnetics currently generates application-specific core, bobbin, and winding geometry rather than limiting every design to an existing manufacturer catalog.
The generated design can be used as an engineering target to help identify a suitable commercially available core and bobbin with similar electrical and physical characteristics.
As the SolidMagnetics component database expands, the platform will increasingly be able to compare calculated requirements against actual manufacturer parts.
If an off-the-shelf component is not a good fit, the generated geometry can also serve as the starting point for further development of a custom magnetic component.
Do I need SolidWorks to use the files?
No. SolidMagnetics design packages include neutral file formats such as STEP and PDF, allowing the generated geometry and engineering documentation to be used without SolidWorks.
Standard design packages also include a SolidWorks Reference CAD model representing the generated magnetic geometry.
For qualifying advanced and Enterprise designs, a Fully Parametric SolidWorks Engineering CAD model may also be available. This version provides deeper access to editable design parameters, named features, and the engineering structure of the generated model.

For designs requiring additional engineering assistance or custom development beyond the automated workflow, delivery time will depend on the scope of the requested work.

The SolidMagnetics design interface guides you through the electrical and physical requirements needed for your selected magnetic component.

What if I need a revision?

Is my data confidential?
Customer design inputs and generated design files are treated as confidential and are not made publicly available or shared with other SolidMagnetics customers.
SolidMagnetics uses third-party service providers and infrastructure as necessary to operate the website, process payments, generate designs, and securely store or deliver design files. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for additional information about how data is handled.
Do you also manufacture the parts?
No. SolidMagnetics currently provides magnetic design automation and engineering design files rather than physical component manufacturing.
